Core Policy EasyPark does not issue parking fines and has no legal authority to revoke them. Fines are issued exclusively by local municipalities (for public streets) or private operators (for garages/private lots). All disputes must be filed directly with the issuing authority listed on the ticket.
How to Prepare a Dispute Before submitting a claim, verify if the fine was issued due to a user error or a system mismatch:
Zone Match: Did you select the correct zone code? A fine is valid if you paid for Zone A but parked in Zone B.
License Plate: Is the license plate in your app an exact match? Typos (e.g., "0" vs. "O") are common reasons for fines.
Timing: Was the session active at the exact minute the fine was timestamped? Check your Parking History in the app.
Step-by-Step Dispute Process
Identify the Issuer: Look at the fine for the name of the municipality or operator (e.g., Gemeente Amsterdam, Scanbureau, or a private firm like Q-Park).
Gather Evidence: * Receipt: Go to Menu (☰) > Activity > History, select the session, and download the PDF receipt.
Screenshot: Take a screenshot of the active session timer if the fine was issued while you were still at the car.
Submit the Claim: Follow the instructions on the back of the fine. Most Dutch municipalities allow for digital "Bezwaar" (objection) via their website using your DigiD.
Observe Deadlines: In the Netherlands, you typically have 6 weeks from the date on the fine to file an objection.
When a Fine is Likely to be Revoked The issuing authority may show clemency or correct the fine if:
You had a valid, active session for the correct zone and plate, but the warden's handheld device failed to sync.
You made a minor typo in the license plate but can prove the payment was intended for the vehicle that was fined (administrative clemency).
The camera/warden misread your license plate.
Critical Rules & Constraints
EasyPark's Role: EasyPark cannot contact the municipality on your behalf. We can only provide you with the proof of payment (receipt) to support your case.
Payment vs. Fine: Receiving a fine does not automatically stop your EasyPark session. You must still stop the session manually when you leave to avoid further costs.
Liability: Starting a session in the wrong zone or for the wrong car is considered a user error. While you can still dispute it, the issuer is not legally required to revoke the fine.
